Cataloguing Project Manager
Band 6 (UO24 to UO30)
£33,002 - £38,784 per annum
Full Time - 36.5 hours per week
Fixed Term for 6 months

This position will work at University sites across Hull, primarily Blaydes House in the historic Old Town and the Cottingham Road campus.

The Cataloguing Project Manager is a new full-time, fixed-term post available for six months through funding from the Maritime History Trust. The postholder will be part of the Library’s Collections Development Team, reporting to the Collections Development Manager. You will work with Library and Archive colleagues as required, and liaise with staff in the Faculty of Arts, Social Sciences and Education, which has oversight of Blaydes House, particularly colleagues working at Blaydes House.

Blaydes House was built for the Blaydes family in the 18th century as a hub to manage the family’s merchant and shipbuilding businesses. More recently, it has been the home of the University of Hull’s Blaydes Maritime Centre and its substantial library and archive collections. The University is relocating these collections, which will continue to support research and teaching either at Hull or elsewhere. To enable this, the collections need to be fully catalogued to professional standards so that the transfer of physical items is accompanied by the export/import of catalogue records to the library management systems of the new locations.

You will have a recognised qualification in library and information management and/or experience relevant to the post. Your experience will include:

- working with library management systems, particularly the cataloguing functions. Experience of  Sierra is desirable, not essential.

- current metadata standards, MARC, RDA, AACR2, and Library of Congress schedules.

- project management, for which you will be able to demonstrate the outcomes from  previous work.

You will be actively engaged in continuing professional development.

The role will primarily be located at Blaydes House to work in situ with the collections, with work also at the University Library and Hull History Centre as necessary.  As part of that, there will also be opportunities to work with colleagues in the Collections Development Team more broadly in support of wider Library metadata activity (library collections, research outputs, digital collections).

To apply please upload your current CV, complete the online application form and provide a supporting statement/cover letter to outline how you meet the essential and desirable criteria for the role.

Please note that you need to upload your covering letter on the same screen where you upload your CV. After uploading your CV, click "Select File" again and upload your covering letter.
