About the role

About Twelve
Twelve designs and builds the world’s most inspiring merchandise and packaging for the world’s most coveted brands. With deep expertise across global production, creative innovation, and sustainability, we turn bold ideas into elevated, high-impact realities. Our clients—ranging from luxury fashion and beauty to leading lifestyle brands—trust us to deliver unforgettable experiences through beautifully executed product and packaging.

Role Overview

The Domestic Compliance Manager owns day-to-day product and supplier compliance for Twelve’s U.S. supplier network and domestically managed programs. The role covers merchandise, drinkware, apparel, accessories, and packaging, including work performed by suppliers, assemblers, and third-party logistics providers supporting kitting and fulfillment.

A hands-on, solutions-oriented business partner, this manager translates regulatory and client requirements into practical actions from development through shipment. The role identifies risk early, establishes clear approval requirements, and works with Commercial, Creative, Sourcing, Production, Logistics, and QA/QC to deliver compliant products on schedule. Scope includes verifying upstream manufacturing information for products purchased through U.S. suppliers or distributors.

Key Responsibilities

Product Compliance and Testing

- Assess product categories, materials, intended use, age grading, and destination markets to establish applicable U.S. federal, state, retailer, and client requirements before production commitments.

- Create testing and documentation plans, coordinate samples with qualified laboratories, review results, and resolve failures. Confirm that reports and certificates apply to the actual product, materials, facility, and production configuration.

- Review labeling, warnings, packaging copy, product claims, and supporting evidence, including food-contact documentation for drinkware where applicable. Reassess compliance when materials, decoration, suppliers, or intended use change.

Supplier and Social Compliance

- Manage compliance onboarding and ongoing approval of domestic suppliers, kitting partners, and relevant 3PL facilities. Verify manufacturing locations, subcontractors, required records, and client authorizations.

- Coordinate supplier social compliance assessments against Twelve and client codes of conduct, including labor practices, workplace health and safety, ethical conduct, and environmental expectations.

- Maintain audit records and corrective action plans, validate closure evidence, and escalate serious findings or unauthorized subcontracting. Partner with global compliance colleagues where upstream production occurs overseas.

Program Execution and Business Partnership

- Translate compliance requirements into project milestones, costs, and approval gates. Give teams clear guidance on required actions, owners, deadlines, and feasible alternatives when issues arise.

- Confirm that decoration, repacking, assembly, and kitting processes preserve required labeling, traceability, and product integrity. Partner with QA/QC on inspections and product defects that may create safety or compliance concerns.

- Represent compliance in selected client discussions, supplier reviews, and escalations. Communicate risks and solutions clearly while protecting client relationships and delivery commitments.

Controls and Issue Resolution

- Maintain a central compliance tracker covering supplier status, testing, approvals, audit findings, document expiration dates, and unresolved risks. Keep supporting records complete and accessible.

- Place affected supplier approvals or program releases on hold when required evidence is missing or a material concern exists. Document release criteria, verify resolution, and escalate issues beyond delegated authority; commercial urgency does not replace required compliance approval.

- Coordinate containment and investigation of failures or safety concerns with functional leaders and legal counsel. Support traceability, corrective action, and any required reporting or recall activities through the designated company process.

- Monitor relevant requirement changes, update procedures and checklists, train internal teams and suppliers, and report recurring issues with recommended improvements.

Qualifications and Experience

- Minimum of 7 years of relevant product or supplier compliance experience in consumer products, promotional merchandise, packaging, retail, sourcing, or manufacturing.

- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.

- Working knowledge of applicable CPSC/CPSIA requirements, FDA requirements, California Proposition 65, and relevant labeling and chemical restrictions; ability to determine applicability by product and intended use.

- Experience managing testing laboratories, interpreting reports, reviewing supplier documentation, and resolving nonconformities.

- Experience with supplier audits, social compliance programs, corrective actions, and retailer or enterprise client requirements; familiarity with domestic decoration and kitting operations preferred.

- Strong judgment, organization, and follow-through, with the ability to challenge incomplete information, manage concurrent programs, and influence cross-functional partners.

- Clear, service-oriented communication and a practical approach to solving problems.
