About the role

Status: Full-Time | Closes: November 2nd, 2026

Information Technology Director

The Information Technology Director performs advanced professional, technical, and managerial duties to plan, organize, direct, and oversee the County’s information technology, telecommunications, and data management systems under the broad policy guidance of the County Commissioners. In this leadership role, the Director oversees Countywide technology infrastructure—including network architecture (LANs, WLANs, virtual networks), servers, firewalls, operating systems (Unix/Linux), telecommunications/voice systems, database management, and web applications—while ensuring rigorous system integrity, data security, and business continuity. Key managerial duties include preparing and administering the departmental operating budget, monitoring expenditures, managing hardware and software procurement, and supervising IT personnel through workload distribution, performance evaluations, recruitment, and discipline recommendations. The Director actively collaborates with departmental leaders to conduct needs analyses, implement tailored software solutions, evaluate system performance, and lead comprehensive IT training programs for staff across the organization in coordination with Human Resources. Furthermore, the position directs internet and intranet operations, develops policies to modernize IT workflows, conducts confidential investigations into employee computer usage to enforce compliance with County technology policies, and carries out related executive IT responsibilities as needed.

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, communications technology, electronics, data management, or a closely related discipline, paired with eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience performing related technical and managerial duties—with specialized experience in computer systems and software management strongly preferred. An equivalent combination of qualifying education, advanced training, and professional experience will also be considered.

This full-time, Exempt position offers a competitive salary of $110,000 depending on experience, alongside a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being. Your coverage will include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, as well as robust retirement plans and various supplemental insurance options. Additionally, you will gain access to an Employee Assistance Program, an exciting perks program, and Uintah County’s award-winning wellness initiative, which features engaging team activities, convenient on-site health fairs, educational seminars, and full access to our on-site wellness center and gym equipment.
