About the role
Job Title
(Junior) Sales Engineer
Job Description
Do you enjoy turning complex customer challenges into smart, practical solutions and bringing people together to make them happen? As a Sales Engineer Airports at Vanderlande, you help shape the logistics systems that keep baggage moving reliably through airports around the world.
What will you be doing?
As a Sales Engineer Airports, you work at the intersection of customers, technology and business. Together with Sales Managers and multidisciplinary specialists, you translate customer needs, operational processes and tender requirements into smart, competitive solutions.
You develop and compare solution concepts, balancing performance, availability, sustainability, cost, risk and life-cycle value. Throughout the sales process, you bring together expertise from areas such as Layout Engineering, OT, IT, Service and Procurement, while creating clarity on scope, assumptions and responsibilities.
Customer interaction is a key part of your role. You facilitate workshops, present solution concepts and explain technical and commercial trade-offs in a clear and convincing way. You also contribute to cost estimates, business cases and proposals, and help identify risks early. From the first customer conversation through contract award and handover, you help ensure that the proposed solution is valuable for the customer, commercially competitive and technically executable.
About the team
You will join the Sales Engineering team within Vanderlande’s Airports business in Europe LATAM, working alongside colleagues from Sales Engineering, Layout Engineering, Sales Consultancy, Structural Engineering and other technical disciplines. You will be part of an open, international environment where colleagues share knowledge, challenge ideas and collaborate on solutions with real operational impact. The role gives you broad exposure to customers, technology and commercial decision-making, with opportunities to develop through on-the-job learning, experienced colleagues and the Vanderlande Academy.
Your profile
We are looking for someone who enjoys solving complex problems while keeping sight of both the customer and the bigger picture. You bring:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in industrial, mechanical, logistics or another relevant technical discipline, or an equivalent level gained through professional experience
- Experience in Sales Engineering, Solution Engineering, Systems Engineering, concept development or another technical, customer-facing role. Both early-career candidates and more experienced professionals are welcome
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the curiosity to understand how technology, processes and customer needs connect
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and collaborate across different disciplines
- Commercial awareness and an interest in solution costing, business value and risk. Experience with complex bids, tenders, automation or international customer projects is an advantage
- Professional proficiency in English. Knowledge of German or another relevant European language is a plus
