About the role

About SLR Consulting & the Role
At SLR Consulting, we are problem solvers, innovators, and trusted advisors helping shape sustainable solutions worldwide. SLR comprises over 5,000+ staff across our global regions, with 35+ Practices covering Engineering & Design, Planning & Assessment Environmental Sciences, Earth Sciences and Advisory Services. In the Asia Pacific region (SLR APAC), SLR has 1,200+ employees located throughout 24 offices.

At the heart of SLR is a collaborative 'One Team' approach, a supportive and accessible workplace culture, and opportunities to work alongside industry leaders while making a real impact.

We're looking for a Principal Environmental Consultant to join and lead our team in Singapore as we continue to grow following Hydrobiology's integration into SLR. You'll join the same highly regarded local team, now backed by SLR's global network of environmental specialists, multidisciplinary expertise, and expanded technical capability.

This is an opportunity for an experienced environmental consultant and recognised industry leader combine technical excellence, team leadership and business growth in a role that will influence both project outcomes and the future direction of the Singapore practice. You'll lead complex and meaningful projects across Singapore and Southeast Asia, mentor and develop a talented team, and help expand our presence in a growing regional market.

We're seeking someone who is equally comfortable providing trusted technical advice to clients, leading multidisciplinary teams, and building strong commercial relationships. You'll work closely with colleagues across the region and globally, leveraging SLR's technical depth to deliver innovative solutions for clients across a broad range of sectors.

Building on the strong reputation and client relationships established through the integration of Hydrobiology into SLR, this role offers a unique opportunity to lead an established team while helping shape the next phase of growth across Singapore and Southeast Asia.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Including, but not limited to:

- Lead and develop the Singapore Environmental team, providing technical, commercial and people leadership to a high-performing consulting team.

- Deliver and oversee complex environmental consulting projects across Singapore, ensuring technical excellence, commercial performance and client satisfaction.

- Provide senior technical leadership in aquatic ecology, environmental impact assessment (EIA), environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA) and related environmental services.

- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, building long-term relationships and providing strategic environmental and sustainability advice.

- Develop and execute growth initiatives for the Singapore practice, while supporting broader business development opportunities across the Southeast Asian market.

- Identify, pursue and secure new business opportunities, leading proposals, tenders and client engagement activities.

- Mentor, coach and develop team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, safety and continuous professional growth.

- Manage project resources, workloads and priorities to ensure successful project delivery and effective utilisation of the team.

- Collaborate with regional and global technical specialists to deliver multidisciplinary solutions and expand service offerings for clients.

- Represent the business externally through industry engagement, professional networks, conferences and client forums, strengthening the company's profile in Singapore and Southeast Asia.

Skills and Experience

- Degree qualification in Environmental Science, Marine Biology, Freshwater Ecology, Hydrobiology, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline, with postgraduate qualifications highly regarded.

- Extensive environmental consulting experience, including significant experience delivering aquatic ecology, marine science or related environmental projects.

- Proven project management capability, including project planning, commercial management, budgeting, quality assurance and risk management.

- Experience developing and maintaining trusted client relationships across government, infrastructure, energy, resources, industrial or development sectors.

- Demonstrated success in business development, including proposal preparation, opportunity identification and work winning.

- Experience delivering EIAs, ESIAs and projects aligned with international standards such as IFC Performance Standards would be highly regarded.
