Company Description:
As a leading global investment management firm, AB fosters diverse perspectives and embraces innovation to help our clients navigate the uncertainty of capital markets. Through high-quality research and diversified investment services, we serve institutions, individuals, and private wealth clients in major markets worldwide. Our ambition is simple: to be our clients’ most valued asset-management partner.
Group Description:
We are seeking a Pune-based technology professional to join the Multi-Asset Technology team supporting our buy-side Multi-Asset Solutions investment unit. The role is primarily focused on production application and job support for systems used by quantitative and fundamental research analysts and portfolio managers. The successful candidate will help ensure the reliability of daily investment workflows, investigate and resolve production issues, work closely with business and technology partners, and use Python, SQL, automation and modern AI-assisted development tools to improve operational efficiency. Strong production ownership, analytical problem-solving and communication skills are more important than deep software engineering expertise.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day production support for multi-asset investment workflows, including portfolio optimization, monitoring, trade building, trade routing and related processes
- Monitor scheduled and overnight production jobs, investigate failures and data issues, perform root-cause analysis, and coordinate timely resolution and communication
- Identify recurring operational issues and manual processes and implement practical automation, monitoring, controls and workflow improvements using Python, SQL and other appropriate tools
- Perform production validation and testing for fixes and changes, with appropriate attention to operational risk and downstream impact
- Maintain clear support documentation, runbooks and knowledge articles so recurring issues can be resolved consistently and efficiently
What makes this role unique or interesting (if applicable)?
The candidate will work closely with an established technology team and investment professionals and gain broad exposure to systematic investment workflows across multiple asset classes. The role offers an opportunity to develop deep knowledge of production investment processes while using automation and AI-assisted tools to improve reliability, supportability and efficiency.
Qualifications, Experience, Education:
This position requires:
- A strong interest in learning the investment implementation lifecycle and markets including equities, credit, rates, FX and volatility.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to investigate unfamiliar systems, data and production issues methodically
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with investment users and technology partners, clarify requirements and provide clear status updates during production issues
- A strong sense of ownership and accountability for production processes, including monitoring, incident resolution, testing, documentation and continuous improvement
Experience and Education Required:
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
- Experience supporting production applications, batch jobs, data workflows or business-critical technology processes; experience in financial services or investment technology is preferred
- Working knowledge of Python with the ability to read, troubleshoot and modify existing code and develop practical scripts or automation; deep software engineering expertise is not required
- Working knowledge of SQL, including the ability to investigate data issues and write or modify queries; Microsoft SQL Server experience is a plus
- Experience troubleshooting production issues across applications, databases, data feeds and scheduled jobs; familiarity with incident management and root-cause analysis is preferred
- Experience supporting quantitative research or investment workflows is a plus
- Comfort using modern development and AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate troubleshooting, scripting and automation while applying appropriate testing and review
Special Knowledge (if applicable):
- Familiarity with Git/GitHub and basic software release or change-management practices
- Familiarity with Python, SQL, Azure, Kubernetes, CI/CD, scheduling/orchestration tools, or web-based dashboards is helpful; candidates are not expected to be experts in all technologies
- Experience with market data vendors such as Bloomberg is a plus
- Experience with PnL, performance attribution, portfolio data, or other investment data workflows is a plus
- Experience working in the finance industry and demonstrable curiosity about quantitative research and investment processes is a plus
