About this opportunity
Everyday Banking is at the heart of our growth strategy, with Current Accounts, Overdrafts, Savings and Payments helping us serve our UK customers and grow customer relationships.
Within our Payments Product team, you'll help shape the regulatory environment around consumer payments while balancing positive customer outcomes with sustainable business outcomes.
You'll lead our responses to consumer payments regulatory consultations, market studies and policy proposals, bringing together evidence from teams across product, finance, legal and risk. You'll represent the Group in industry forums and engage with regulators, policymakers and industry bodies, making sure our positions are clear and evidence based.
You'll also monitor emerging regulatory and industry developments, turning complex policy changes into practical implications and recommendations. Working across the Group, you'll coordinate regulatory information and data requests, prepare high-quality briefings for senior stakeholders, and help ensure our regulatory engagement is appropriately governed and aligned with our policies, controls and risk appetite.

Why join us
We’re on an exciting journey to transform our Group and the way we’re shaping finance for good. We’re focusing on the future, investing in our technologies, workplaces, and colleagues to make our Group a great place for everyone.

What you'll need

- Managing Key Relationships: the ability to build effective connections across diverse groups and influence outcomes. This includes engaging with regulators, policymakers, industry organizations, and senior internal collaborators.

- Communication: the skill to transform complex regulatory, policy, and payments information into clear, meaningful written and verbal briefings for different audiences.

- Critical Thinking: strong analytical and problem-solving skills, using evidence to assess emerging regulatory developments, identify implications, and develop practical recommendations.

- Data Literacy: the capability to gather information and data from various teams, evaluate the evidence, and apply it to back regulatory submissions and strategic positions.

- Business & Commercial Insight: the ability to link regulatory and industry developments with customer, business, and strategic objectives.
And any experience of this would be really useful

- Legal & Regulatory Compliance, particularly experience gained in regulatory affairs, public policy, government affairs, or external engagement within financial services.

- Knowledge of the UK payments and financial services regulatory environment.

- Experience contributing to or leading regulatory discussions, market studies, or major policy initiatives.

This is a place for you...
Our ambition is to be the leading UK business for diversity, equity and inclusion, supporting our customers, colleagues and communities. We are committed to creating an environment in which everyone can thrive, learn and develop.
We were one of the first major organisations to set goals on diversity in senior roles, create a menopause health package, and launch a dedicated Working with Cancer initiative.
We offer reasonable workplace adjustments for colleagues with disabilities, including flexibility in office attendance, location and working patterns. As a Disability Confident Leader, we guarantee interviews for a fair and proportionate number of applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the role and have a disability, long-term health or neurodivergent condition, through the Disability Confident Scheme.
We provide reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process to reduce or remove barriers - just let us know what you need.
Benefits
We also offer a wide-ranging benefits package, which includes:

- A generous pension contribution of up to 15%

- An annual performance-related bonus

- Share schemes including free shares

- Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping
