About the role

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct geological mapping and assess geological conditions at dam, tunnel, and associated infrastructure locations.

- Supervise geological investigations, borehole logging, rock mass classification, and geotechnical assessments.

- Monitor geological conditions during tunnel excavation, including rock formations, joints, faults, fractures, groundwater seepage, and potential instability.

- Assess foundation geology for dams, including rock quality, discontinuities, seepage, and foundation treatment requirements.

- Provide geological inputs for tunnel support systems, excavation methods, grouting, and slope stabilization.

- Monitor dam foundation excavation, abutments, diversion tunnels, and underground structures, as applicable.

- Identify geological hazards and recommend suitable mitigation measures in coordination with design and construction teams.

- Review geological investigation data, construction drawings, and technical reports.

- Maintain geological records, prepare site inspection reports, and document geological conditions encountered during construction.

- Coordinate with civil, geotechnical, and construction teams to resolve site-related geological issues.

- Ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and site safety requirements.
Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Applied Geology, or Engineering Geology.

- Postgraduate qualification in Engineering Geology or a related field will be an added advantage.
Experience

- Relevant experience in geological investigations and construction supervision for dam and hydropower projects.

- Experience in tunnel geology, underground excavation, rock mass classification, and dam foundation assessment.

- Knowledge of geological mapping, groundwater assessment, grouting, and geological risk identification.

- Strong technical reporting and coordination skills.
