Summary of Job Duties:
The Clinical Nurse Specialist, (CNS), is a professional nurse with clinical expertise in a specialized area of practice. The CNS promotes an integrated holistic approach to patient care by functioning as a clinician, educator, consultant, and researcher. The CNS practices within the limits of the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Arkansas and adheres to institutional policies, procedures and standards. The CNS performs their roles as that of a clinician, educator, consultant, and researcher. The CNS is accountable for promoting harmonious relationships among the members of the health care team and a positive image for the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, (UAMS).
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:

- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with Associates Degree, Nursing Diploma or Bachelors in Nursing plus 4 years clinical experience with 2 years in specialty area and 2 years in leadership role

- Current Registered Nurse License

Preferred Qualifications:

- Master’s Degree in Nursing with preparation in the Clinical Nurse Specialist Role

- Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the state of Arkansas.
