About the role

This is a hands-on safety leadership role where you’ll spend meaningful time in stores, working alongside Retail Leaders to solve real operational challenges and strengthen how risk is managed.

As our Safety Operations Manager, you’ll partner with leaders across your division to shape and deliver an engaging safety strategy focused on life-threatening risk, injury prevention and great safety leadership.

With plenty of autonomy to plan and prioritise your work, you’ll balance time in the field with coaching leaders, using insights to identify opportunities and helping embed national safety programmes in ways that work operationally. You’ll also lead and develop a Safety Business Partner.

What’s involved

- Partner with Retail Leaders to shape and deliver the division’s safety strategy

- Spend time in stores, understanding risk and finding practical solutions with leaders and teams

- Lead and develop a Safety Business Partner

About you

You’re a practical, experienced safety leader who enjoys being close to operations and working through problems with people. You can think strategically, but you’re equally comfortable getting into the detail when it matters.

You build trusted relationships, influence with credibility and know when to coach, challenge or hold a clear position. Importantly, you’re comfortable working with autonomy, using your judgement to focus your time where you can make the greatest difference.

What you’ll bring

- Significant safety experience in a large, complex operational environment

- Relevant qualifications in WH&S or a related discipline

- Strong knowledge of risk management, WH&S legislation and safety management systems

- Experience partnering with and influencing senior operational leaders

- A practical approach to problem-solving and managing operational risk

- Strong leadership, judgement and prioritisation skills

You’ll be part of a workplace where you’ll feel like you belong.
