Senior SAP Basis DevOps Engineer

Opportunity:

As a Senior Engineer - SAP Basis DevOps, you will be responsible for the engineering, automation, reliability, security, and continuous improvement of enterprise SAP platforms across on-premises and cloud environments. You will leverage SAP Basis expertise, Azure DevOps, automation, and AI-enabled operations to ensure highly available, secure, and efficient SAP services.
You will work closely with SAP application teams, infrastructure engineers, cloud teams, and security teams to modernise platform operations, drive automation, and improve operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

SAP Platform Engineering & Operations

- Manage and support SAP landscapes including SAP S/4HANA, ECC, BW, PI/PO, Solution Manager, SAP BTP, and SAP HANA.

- Perform installations, upgrades, migrations, system refreshes, kernel upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management activities.

- Ensure platform availability, reliability, performance, and operational stability across production environments.

- Support performance optimisation, capacity planning, backup and recovery, and high-availability solutions.

DevOps, Automation & Cloud Engineering

- Implement Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, release management processes, and DevSecOps practices.

- Develop and maintain automation using Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, Python, Shell scripting, or equivalent technologies.

- Automate provisioning, monitoring, patching, compliance validation, and operational processes.

- Support SAP workloads hosted on Microsoft Azure and contribute to cloud transformation initiatives.

AI-Enabled Operations

- Leverage GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, Azure OpenAI, and enterprise AI solutions to improve engineering productivity and operational efficiency.

- Implement AI-assisted monitoring, anomaly detection, incident analysis, capacity forecasting, and automation opportunities.

- Support AIOps initiatives through intelligent observability, predictive analytics, and automated operational workflows.

- Contribute to AI-powered knowledge management, runbooks, and troubleshooting frameworks while ensuring responsible AI usage.

Reliability, Monitoring & Security

- Monitor platform health and performance using Azure Monitor, Grafana, Splunk, SAP Solution Manager, or equivalent tools.

- Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, problem management, and service improvement initiatives.

- Support implementation of security patches, SAP Security Notes, compliance controls, and audit requirements.

- Assist with disaster recovery testing, resilience validation, and platform governance activities.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

- Collaborate with SAP functional, development, cloud, infrastructure, and security teams to deliver reliable SAP platform services.

- Share knowledge, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to engineering best practices.

- Drive continuous improvement through automation, standardisation, and operational excellence initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or related field.

- 8-12 years of experience in SAP Basis, Platform Engineering, Infrastructure Operations, or DevOps.

- Strong expertise in SAP ECC, S/4HANA, BW, PI/PO, SAP BTP, Solution Manager, and SAP HANA/Oracle administration, including upgrades, migrations, performance tuning, and lifecycle management.

- Proven experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps practices, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible), and automation using PowerShell, Python, or Shell scripting.

- Hands-on experience managing SAP workloads on Microsoft Azure with knowledge of HA/DR, security, and platform reliability.

- Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Azure Monitor, Grafana, Splunk,  or equivalent.

- Experience leveraging AI and AIOps capabilities, including GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, Azure OpenAI, and intelligent automation tools.

- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
