Software Engineer- C Netconf/Yang

Ciena is advancing communications networking by uniting optical and packet technologies for more than 1,000 customers across 60+ countries. This role contributes to data-driven North Bound Interfaces, including REST, NETCONF, and gRPC, with exposure to YANG-based modeling, AI workflows, and software development for advanced networking solutions.

How you will make an impact:

- Develop advanced features based on YANG modeling and AI workflows.

- Author software designs for product capabilities.

- Contribute to software development and software validation activities.

- Create and maintain technical documentation.

- Integrate existing platform and hardware capabilities.

- Provide basic status reporting for individual work or that of a small team.

The must haves:

- Education: Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline.

- Experience: 4+ years’ experience in relevant technology.

- Application of C programming, debugging, and troubleshooting on the Linux platform.

- Relevant software development experience, including product deliveries of advanced networking software systems.

- Carrier-class product design and delivery experience with optical transport products/switches.

- Demonstrable self-initiative and can-do attitude.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with collaboration across multiple geographically diverse teams.

Nice to haves:

- Experience with YANG data model and different data formats.

- Experience with AI and open-source technologies.

- Ability to work independently with little hands-on upervision.
