Staff Engineer (Solution Architecture)

Our 100+ engineers build the FTMO platform for 3.5M+ users in 140+ countries. Our Solution Architecture team makes sure that many teams and systems fit together. It works as an enabling team: product teams own their systems and we help them move faster. We are growing the team and you will help shape how it works.

As a Staff Engineer, you lead the architecture of complex initiatives across domains and connect Business, Operations and IT. You own two areas: the architecture of 2-3 product areas and at least one technical standard that every team uses.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

- Be the architecture partner for 2-3 product areas: lead their cross-domain initiatives end to end and decide where the logic and data live.

- Set boundaries between IT teams and product areas, so that every piece of logic and data has one clear owner.

- Own a shared technical standard, such as event design on Kafka, API conventions or the service template, that teams adopt because it helps them.

- Decide architecture questions that cross team boundaries. Teams propose, you decide and explain why.

- Align API and event contracts between teams: what is exchanged, who owns it and how it evolves.

- Help split a shared legacy database into service-owned data with clear ownership.

- Turn business needs into technical options with clear trade-offs and judge features on return, complexity and running cost.

- Pair with teams on complex integrations and prove approaches with spikes and reference implementations, so teams can handle the next one on their own.

- Grow architecture skills across teams through guilds, workshops and documentation.

- Work with the Cloud Platform and Security teams on service-to-service security, secrets and data handling.

WHAT DO YOU BRING TO THE TABLE?

- 7+ years in software engineering, with recent years hands-on in distributed and event-driven systems.

- Experience as the go-to technical person well beyond your own team.

- Microservices, domain-driven design and database decoupling in practice.

- Practical Kafka knowledge: partitioning, delivery guarantees, schema registry, failure modes.

- You care about the business and can explain a technical trade-off to a Product Manager.

- You have grown other engineers beyond your own team through mentoring, pairing or guilds.

- AI is part of your daily work. You use it with a critical eye and support its adoption across the company.

- You are pragmatic: you start from the problem, not the pattern, and you measure your success by what teams can do without you.

- Security-minded: OAuth2 and JWT flows, secret management, data classification.

- English at C1 or higher.

- Nice to have: background in fintech, trading or a regulated industry, and experience with our stack: PHP, Go, Java/Kotlin, Python, Kafka, Kubernetes and Google Cloud.
