About the role

Join Our Team as a Heavy Equipment / Yellow Iron Mechanic!

📍 Location: Heart of Florida Landfill, Lake Panasoffkee, FL
🕡 Schedule: Monday-Friday | Saturdays as needed
💰 Pay: $35-$45/hour DOE

What You’ll Do:

- Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on a variety of heavy equipment.

- Diagnose and repair diesel engine aftertreatment and emissions systems, including DPF, DOC, SCR, DEF, regen, and derate-related issues.

- Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems.

- Work on a fleet of yellow iron equipment including compactors, dozers, excavators, motor graders, water trucks, and articulated dump trucks.

- Operate bulldozers, wheel loaders, motor graders, and scrapers. Compactor experience is a plus!

- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA and company standards.

What We’re Looking For:

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- 3-5 years of hands-on experience with diesel engines and yellow iron/heavy equipment.

- Strong working knowledge of diesel aftertreatment systems, including DPF, DOC, SCR, DEF systems, regeneration, and emissions-related diagnostics.

- Ability to diagnose aftertreatment fault codes, regen failures, sensor issues, and engine derates is highly preferred.

- Ability to read, write, and communicate technical service information.

- Strong knowledge of heavy equipment operation, diagnostics, repair, and preventive maintenance.

- CDL preferred, but not required at time of hire.

- Ability to lift over 50 lbs. and work in physically demanding conditions.
