SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

This is an opportunity for students interested in construction project management and field operations to gain firsthand experience working for a heavy civil contractor on active projects throughout Michigan. Interns work alongside Project Managers, Superintendents, and field crews in both field and office settings , learning by doing and gaining practical experience in how projects are planned, managed, and built.

This is a paid, full-time summer internship intended to coincide with the student’s academic summer break . Start and end dates may vary based on school schedules and project needs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

- Work with experienced project staff to track daily crew production, manpower, quantities, and progress

- Assist with work planning, scheduling, and project controls

- Review employee and crew time for accurate coding

- Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with day-to-day project activities

- Participate in progress meetings and visit jobsites to review project status

- Gain hands-on experience with construction technology, including HCSS HeavyJob, Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, and other project management tools

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

- Currently enrolled in a college Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related degree program

- Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills

- Self-motivated, dependable, and willing to learn

- Comfortable working outside and around active construction operations

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

- Regularly works in both field and office settings

- Field work includes working outdoors around active heavy civil construction operations and may involve varying weather conditions, uneven terrain, loud working conditions, and heavy equipment

- Requires the ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods

- Regular Monday-Friday schedule with occasional extended hours based on project needs

- Must have reliable transportation and ability to travel to assigned project locations
