Join a mission-driven healthcare organization working to make high-quality medical, behavioral, and social care more accessible to underserved communities.
As Associate General Counsel, you will work directly with the Head of Legal to help build and strengthen the legal function as the organization scales.

This is an opportunity to take meaningful ownership, establish scalable legal processes, and help shape the legal foundations of an evolving, technology-enabled healthcare model.
Accountabilities:
-
Serve as a lead legal advisor across corporate, healthcare regulatory, litigation, commercial, product, employment, and privacy matters.
-
Monitor regulatory developments and translate their implications into clear, actionable guidance for Product, Clinical, and Operations teams.
-
Advise on compliance with healthcare laws and regulations, including HIPAA, Anti-Kickback requirements, and Corporate Practice of Medicine rules.
-
Provide practical legal guidance on the use and impact of artificial intelligence and other technologies in healthcare programs.
-
Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on commercial agreements with health plans, vendors, and partners.

Develop and maintain contract templates and playbooks, including service agreements, Business Associate Agreements (BAAs), and non-disclosure agreements (NDAs).
-
Support commercial strategy and product development through guidance on Medicaid, Medicare, value-based care, and related regulatory requirements.
-
Identify legal and regulatory risks early and collaborate with business teams to develop compliant, practical solutions.
-
Build legal processes, policies, and workflows that support effective risk management and sustainable business growth.
-
Manage external legal counsel and monitor related work and spending.
-
Partner with Clinical Operations on care delivery compliance, including documentation standards, authorization requirements, and billing practices.
-
Collaborate with the People team on compliance training, employee onboarding, and workforce policies.
-
Support litigation matters and represent the organization professionally in discussions with partners, health plans, and regulators.
-
Take on additional legal and operational responsibilities as business needs evolve.
Requirements:
-
At least 5 years of healthcare legal experience, with knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks such as CMS, OIG, HIPAA, and fraud, waste, and abuse (FWA) requirements.
-
At least 3 years of legal experience within a digital health company, health plan, healthcare provider, payer, or managed care organization.
-
Strong working knowledge of healthcare regulations and their practical application to technology products and digital health services.
-
Experience operating in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment; startup or high-growth company experience is strongly preferred.
-
Ability to communicate complex legal and regulatory matters in clear, accessible language and provide concise, business-oriented risk and benefit recommendations.
-
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, multitask effectively, and oversee multiple projects and deliverables.
-
Experience developing legal processes, policies, procedures, and workflows that support organizational growth.
-
Strong collaboration skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with Clinical, Operations, Finance, Product, and Executive stakeholders.
-
Sound judgment and the ability to make proportionate, practical decisions when balancing legal risk with business objectives.
-
A collaborative, mission-driven approach and genuine commitment to improving outcomes for underserved communities.
Additional experience that would be advantageous:
-
Familiarity with value-based care agreements, capitation arrangements, risk-bearing entities, and their compliance implications.
-
Direct experience handling pre-litigation or litigation matters and managing external counsel.
