Direct Supply is building the future of healthcare technology with industry-leading products, solutions and platforms to help improve the lives of millions of seniors and those who care for them.
The Building Services Consultant for Fire Protection provides technical expertise and end-to-end support for fire protection projects serving Senior Living customers. This role helps customers assess fire and life-safety system needs, define project scopes, evaluate service options, and coordinate work through qualified third-party providers.
Working with customers, service providers, and internal teams, you'll help ensure sprinkler and fire alarm projects are well-scoped, effectively coordinated, and clearly communicated from initial assessment through completion.
What You’ll Do and Impact:
- Partner with Senior Living customers to assess fire protection needs, interpret system information and service findings, clarify priorities, and recommend appropriate next steps.
- Develop project scopes for deficiency corrections, repairs, component replacements, system upgrades, and new installations or replacements.
- Coordinate qualified fire protection contractors and service providers, aligning scope, site conditions, scheduling, access, customer expectations, and documentation requirements.
- Collaborate with Project Associates to review bids and proposals for scope completeness, assumptions, exclusions, labor and material detail, schedule, and pricing accuracy.
- Present customer proposals and options that clearly explain technical findings, recommended work, alternatives, project impacts, and key considerations.
- Manage project sequencing, customer communications, site access, system impairments, notification requirements, and closeout activities to support effective execution.
- Monitor project progress, provider commitments, risks, schedule changes, and open issues; escalate concerns and coordinate timely resolution.
- Review inspection reports, deficiency findings, permits, completion records, and other provider documentation for completeness, routing technical or regulatory questions to the appropriate qualified party.
- Manage provider performance and service delivery concerns through clear expectations, follow-up, escalation, and contract requirements.
- Provide fire protection expertise to Sales, Customer Service, Project Associates, and Supply Chain partners while contributing to process improvements and knowledge sharing that strengthen service delivery.
What You'll Bring:
- Associate degree, relevant technical education, or equivalent apprenticeship and field experience.
- 15+ years of fire protection industry experience, or a comparable combination of hands-on technical and project experience.
- Strong working knowledge of commercial fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems, including system components, inspection and testing practices, maintenance, repair, and project delivery requirements.
- Experience coordinating fire protection contractors or other third-party providers, reviewing scopes and bids, managing project requirements, and resolving technical or service delivery challenges.
- Ability to interpret service reports and deficiency findings and translate technical information into clear project scopes, recommendations, and customer options.
- Working knowledge of applicable fire and life-safety codes, standards, permitting, and authority having jurisdiction processes, including when to engage a licensed contractor, engineer, or authority.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly, negotiate effectively, resolve conflicts, and align expectations across customers, providers, and internal partners.
- Ability to manage multiple projects using business systems, mobile applications, and digital documentation tools while maintaining accurate records and timely follow-up, with ability to travel by car and/or plane up to 10%.
- NICET certification in Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems, Water-Based Systems Layout, or Fire Alarm Systems.
- Experience in estimating, quoting, and project management within fire protection or related building services.
- Experience supporting Senior Living, healthcare, commercial, or other occupied facilities where work must be coordinated around building operations and occupant needs.
- Knowledge of related building trades and building systems.
