Clinical Research Coordinator B/C
Job Profile Title
Clinical Research Coordinator B
Job Description Summary
The Palliative and Advanced Illness Research (PAIR) Center is seeking a full-time, experienced Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) to join its multidisciplinary team. The mission of the PAIR Center’s Acute Care Health Services Research Group is to generate high-quality evidence to advance healthcare policies and practices with the goals of improving the efficacy, quality, efficiency, and equity of acute care for serious illness. The research program of Dr. George Anesi, PAIR Center Core Faculty and Study Principal Investigator, focuses specifically on healthcare capacity strain and hospital preparedness.
Job Description
Working with researchers, clinicians, and the project team, the CRC will help carry out a multi-year study of how hospitals cope when respiratory viruses such as influenza, RSV, and COVID-19 fill hospital beds and stretch clinic staff. During the COVID-19 pandemic, hospital leaders often reported feelings of hospital stress that lasted for a longer period of time than traditional objective measurements of hospital strain would suggest, such as patient volume and bed capacity. This study will examine how closely what frontline clinicians subjectively report matches what can be measured objectively across respiratory virus seasons, what role clinician burnout plays, and which characteristics of hospitals and clinicians make strain worse or help protect against it. The goal is to find the best targets for future changes in hospital organization and clinician training that help hospitals stay resilient during future surges, maintaining high-quality care for all patients and a healthy workforce.
The CRC will assume responsibility for day-to-day study operations with oversight by the study’s project manager and Principal Investigator, Dr. George Anesi. Over time, and with success demonstrated in the role, the coordinator may have the opportunity to take on additional projects within Dr. Anesi’s research portfolio.
Specific responsibilities will include:
- Managing day-to-day study operations and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of study procedures
- Developing, piloting, and managing a REDCap survey database and Mosio text-message surveys for hospital clinicians in partnership with the study’s data manager
- Supporting clinician education and stakeholder buy-in, including strategies to optimize recruitment and survey completion rates among hospital clinicians
- Recruiting and interviewing clinicians, coordinating payments, and transcription of qualitative data
- Developing and maintaining regulatory documentation, including preparation of IRB submissions
- Participating in qualitative coding and consensus meetings
- Preparing meeting minutes, study materials, and reports
- Assisting with data analysis and preparation of manuscripts and conference presentations
Experienced candidates (CRC-C) will be expected to perform the duties above with greater independence and autonomy. They may also provide supervision of students, research assistants, and/or junior research coordinators based on experience and interest.
***position is contingent upon funding***

A background in psychology, biological/life sciences, nursing, or public health is preferred, but not required.
