About this role

JET's Security Architecture & Engineering function is responsible for making data protection a built-in property of how we design and operate our platforms, not an afterthought. As Data Security Specialist, you'll be responsible for engineering the controls that safeguard JET's most sensitive structured and unstructured data across cloud-native and enterprise environments. You'll translate architectural data security standards into working, scalable implementations  from DLP platforms to encryption pipelines, and embed Privacy and Security by Design into engineering delivery.

You'll work at the intersection of data security engineering and automation, engineering to turn continuous insights like data security findings into automated engineering guardrails. Utilising CI/CD pipelines, and LLM-driven automation, your vision will enhance our automated data defense, your execution will deliver continuous compliance and risk reduction, and your approach will care deeply about creating frictionless security workflows that enable development teams to innovate safely. Together with engineering, IT, and business stakeholders, you'll drive a culture where security isn't a hurdle, it's a competitive advantage that helps us win together.

These are some of the key components to the position:

- Support and work with the team on JET's Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) and Data Loss Prevention (DLP)  program.

- Contribute and work on program goals aligned to internal policies and technical standards.

- Tune data security controls and DLP policies, triage findings, manage false positives and rule exceptions, and maintain a low false positive rate.

- Working with business stakeholders and data owners on all aspects of the DSPM and DLP program.

- Advise data owners and work alongside engineering teams, providing clear technical documentation and developer-friendly data protection tools to ensure the security and integrity of JET data while continuing to enable the business to operate at pace.

- Contribute to data security posture metrics and reporting, including classification coverage, exposure remediation SLAs, and DLP false positive rates.

What will you bring to the team?

- Experience implementing and managing data security controls in cloud-native or SaaS environments, spanning DSPM platforms (e.g., Wiz), SaaS-native DLP (e.g., Google Workspace, Slack), and data classification programs

- Experience working with structured and unstructured data discovery and classification techniques (e.g., pattern matching, regex, NLP-based scanning).

- A good understanding of encryption and cryptography principles as they apply to data security (knowledge of what to use, when to use it, and how it's applied).

- Comfortable utilising AI and setting up automations to parse, prioritise, and fine-tune alerts and findings.

- Experience with Terraform and ideally some scripting experience (Python)

- Ability to translate security goals and objectives into working technical solutions.

- Understanding of governance policies and technical standards and the ability to translate these into technical solutions, checklists, and actionable items for data owners and the wider business.

- Demonstrable experience collaborating and building trusted partnerships across DevOps, Software Engineering, IT, Data Owners, and Privacy teams, acting as an enabler rather than a blocker

- Understanding and experience applying full DSPM & DLP lifecycle in an enterprise environment

- Understanding of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR) with a strong ethical foundation, upholding standards for the secure handling of highly sensitive structured and unstructured data

- Ability to be pragmatic and work proactively in a fast-paced enterprise environment, owning your results
