The Role: Global Benefits Captive Specialist
The Global Benefits Captive Specialist will support the management, governance, reporting and ongoing optimization of the company's employee benefits captive arrangements. The role will partner with Global Benefits, regional benefits leads, Finance, Risk, Legal, insurers, brokers, fronting partners and external consultants to deliver data driven insight, strengthen governance, support captive implementation activity and identify opportunities to improve the financing of employee benefit risks globally.
The Team
This role sits at the heart of a cross-disciplinary initiative, working regularly with Finance, Tax, Legal and regional stakeholders to support a self-insurance structure used to finance international employee benefit premiums. We value rigour, ownership and the ability to build strong working relationships across complex, multi-stakeholder environments. If you are analytically sharp, structured in how you work and curious about how risk financing intersects with global people strategy, this is an opportunity to build highly specialist expertise in a growing area.
Responsibilities and Impact
- Coordinate the global benefits captive initiative end-to-end — maintaining an accurate, up-to-date overview of participating countries, insurer arrangements, renewal timelines, premium flows, claims experience and governance documentation across the programme.
- Collect, structure, validate and analyse financial, claims and underwriting data using Excel, with support from Copilot. Check outputs for accuracy and translate findings into clear reporting packs and performance summaries that inform leadership and governance decisions.
- Provide PMO discipline to the captive programme — tracking actions, managing timelines, owning decision logs and ensuring renewal and implementation milestones are progressed with clear accountability across internal and external stakeholders.
- Build and sustain effective working relationships across Finance, Tax, Legal, Regional Benefits and external partners — including insurers, brokers, the captive manager and fronting partners — acting as the operational connective tissue that keeps the programme moving.
- Support captive governance processes , including preparation of committee materials, coordination of audit and regulatory reviews, maintenance of compliance documentation and issue tracking across jurisdictions.
- Develop deep expertise in the captive model over time — including the financial, insurance and regulatory mechanics of a self-insurance structure — with structured support, mentoring and direct exposure to specialist external partners.
What We're Looking For
Basic Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in finance, consulting, insurance, risk management, project coordination or a comparable analytical or cross-functional role
- A foundation in data analysis, with the ability to review financial, claims, premium and trend data and develop practical insights with guidance.
- Excel skills and experience working with structured data.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate multi-stakeholder projects: managing timelines, tracking actions, owning deliverable logs and driving initiatives to completion across cross-functional teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Prior exposure to employee benefits captives, self-insurance structures, multinational pooling or reinsurance arrangements (captive expertise is not required at hire — this can be learned in role)
- Experience gained in a benefits, insurance or financial consulting environment — including advisory, broking or risk management practices
- Working knowledge of insured employee benefit plans, including life, disability, medical or accident products, across at least one international market
- Experience preparing governance papers, committee materials, executive reporting packs or board-level briefings
- Involvement in vendor, broker or insurer performance management, including service reviews, issue tracking and renewal coordination
- Proficiency using Power BI, Tableau or equivalent tools to design operational dashboards or structured management reporting
- Professional qualification or active study towards CII, APM/PMQ, ACCA, CIPD or equivalent in insurance, risk, finance or project management
