The Opportunity
Life and Annuity and Group and Voluntary Benefits carriers are at the same inflection point from different directions — both modernizing core platforms, evolving operating models, and deploying AI and intelligent agents to unlock capabilities that legacy architectures cannot support. For L&A carriers, the opportunity centers on policy administration transformation, digital core modernization, and the data foundations that enable intelligent operations at scale. For Group and Voluntary Benefits carriers, the opportunity concentrates in the value streams where agentic AI creates the most measurable impact — shielding complexity from the experience while driving speed, scale, and new performance outcomes across underwriting speed and win propensity, integrated absence and disability claims management, guided enrollment and onboarding, and data exchange across a complex broker and employer ecosystem.
Role Summary
Life Insurance and Group Benefits Consulting Managers lead defined workstreams across complex transformation programs. They translate business objectives into operating model designs, technology solutions, and delivery-ready plans — connecting the strategic vision set by senior leaders to the analytical work and implementation that makes it real. They manage day-to-day client relationships at the working level, develop junior team members, and maintain accountability for the quality and progress of their workstream.
In this role, you will lead workstreams that translate carrier transformation vision into working solutions — connecting business strategy to operating model design, technology delivery, and outcomes that show up in loss ratios, operational efficiency, growth, and the experience of customers and distribution partners across both markets.
Responsibilities
- Lead business and technology workstreams from strategy through implementation and value realization
- Define transformation objectives, future-state operating models, and modernization roadmaps
- Redesign end-to-end workflows across the Life & Annuity and Group Benefits value chain
- Design AI-enabled workflows, including orchestration, human decision points, controls, and value measures
- Connect operations, digital core platforms, data, integration, and Agentic AI
- Align stakeholders and manage scope, dependencies, risks, decisions, quality, and adoption
- Develop business cases, executive recommendations, and client-ready deliverables
- Contribute to proposals, solution shaping, thought leadership, and go-to-market offerings
- Build client relationships, identify growth opportunities, and develop consulting team members
- Travel up to 80% based on client and project requirements
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of management consulting, carrier, or business and technology transformation experience, including experience within Life Insurance or Annuities or Group Benefits
- 3+ years of experience leading a business or technology workstream within a transformation, modernization, or platform implementation program
- Bachelor's degree
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of the Life & Annuity or Group Benefits value chain across business and technology
- For Life & Annuity, knowledge of policy administration and digital core modernization, including workflow, data, integration, and digital channels.
- For Group and Voluntary benefits, knowledge of case underwriting, absence management, disability, and voluntary claims as areas of concentration
- For Life, familiarity with platforms such as ALIP, OIPA, Sapiens, FAST, Fadata, EIS, Majesco, or comparable technologies
- For Group, familiarity with platforms such as EIS, FINEOS, Majesco, Vitech, and rating platforms like FJA and Global IQX
- Applied knowledge of AI-enabled or agentic workflows, where AI and underlying data products can drive meaningful value across the value chain
- Strong problem-solving, client communication, team leadership, and stakeholder management skills
- Strong executive presence and ability to influence senior business and technology leaders
- Commercial acumen demonstrated through solution shaping, proposals, and account growth
- Ability to translate complex business objectives into clear plans and measurable outcomes
- Carrier background and relevant industry, agile, architecture, or cloud credentials are valued
