Laboratory Chemist (ICP-MS)

WHAT IS ON OFFER

Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Chemist-ICP-MS  to join our team in Zambia. In this role you will be responsible for trace and ultra-trace elemental analysis using Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS). The role also covers supervising and coordinating work in the General Analysis Laboratory, as delegated by the Geochemistry Specialist, to ensure cost-effective operations, defensible data and quality service to all clients.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

To be successful at Alfred H Knight you will need to display the following:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Required Competencies

- Strong hands-on analytical skills and ICP-MS operation and troubleshooting ability

- Knowledge of trace-element analysis, interference correction and QA/QC principles

- Working knowledge of LIMS and laboratory quality systems

- Leadership and supervisory skills

- Good communication skills with co-workers, superiors and clients

- Safety conscious

- Co-operative team worker

- Good timekeeping and ability to work to deadlines

-  Acts in line with company goals and values

Required Work Experience

- Minimum of 4 years experience in a testing laboratory

- Hands-on ICP-MS experience, preferably in a minerals, metals, Geochemistry or environmental laboratory (desirable).

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry or a related chemical science

- Member of the Chemical Society of Zambia

- First Aid Certificate
