The Opportunity
Teamshares is searching for a President to lead an established, multi-location Italian specialty food market in South Florida, where a retail market, bakery, and prepared foods kitchen operate together under one roof.
The company is joining the Teamshares network and becoming employee owned. The new President will build on its experienced team and strong reputation as it begins this next chapter.
We are especially interested in candidates with experience in:
-
Retail food operations, such as specialty grocery, gourmet markets, or food halls
-
Running integrated operations (prepared foods, bakery, and retail market) under one roof
-
Managing and standardizing operations across multiple locations
-
Leading large teams, including multiple layers of managers
-
Evaluating, consolidating, and connecting business systems (POS, loyalty, accounting, payroll)
This is a full-time, onsite role in South Florida, with regular time across all locations.
What You Will Do:
As President, you will have full responsibility for the company's strategy, operations, and P&L, reporting to a Teamshares Industry Lead. You will lead a large team of employee owners across multiple locations.
This Includes:
-
Lead the Ownership Transition: Work alongside the founding family members who remain in the business and the company's experienced team to carry its culture and reputation forward as it becomes employee owned.
-
Run Integrated Food Operations: Oversee the retail market, bakery, prepared foods, and in-house production, maintaining the quality, freshness, food safety, and customer experience the company is known for.
-
Lead Multi-Location Operations: Manage and standardize operations across all locations.
-
Build and Develop the Management Team: Lead and develop store managers and department heads.
-
Consolidate and Connect Systems: Work across the company's sales/POS, loyalty, accounting, payroll, and other systems. Evaluate, consolidate, and connect them where it makes sense.
-
Run the Business on Data: Use the data these systems produce to guide decisions and run the business.
-
Manage Margins and the Supply Chain: Oversee purchasing, vendor relationships, the distribution center, inventory, pricing, and labor scheduling to protect gross margin and control costs.
-
Grow the Business: Drive traffic and basket size through merchandising, prepared foods, catering, marketing, and the loyalty program.
-
Collaborate on Financial Decisions: Work with Teamshares and the company's finance team on budgets, expenses, cash management, and growth investments.
-
Champion Employee Ownership: Help employees understand what being an owner means and how Teamshares supports them. Connect daily work to shared results.
-
Manage HR and Personnel Matters: Oversee hiring, training, performance reviews, compensation, and difficult conversations fairly and promptly across a large workforce.
-
Build Community Relationships: Represent the company in the local community and strengthen its reputation as a destination for Italian food.
What You Bring:
-
Retail Food Expertise: You have deep knowledge of retail food operations, including fresh departments, food safety, merchandising, and shrink.
-
Multi-Concept Operations: You have run integrated operations (kitchen/prepared foods, bakery, and retail market) under one roof.
-
Multi-Location Leadership: You have managed and standardized operations across several sites.
-
Large Workforce Leadership: You have led and developed large teams, including managers.
-
Systems and Data Fluency: You are comfortable in a fragmented software environment. You can evaluate, consolidate, and connect systems, and you use the data they produce to run the business.
-
Transition Sensitivity: You can step into a family-built business with humility, earn trust through listening and follow-through, and work well alongside family members who remain.
-
Coaching Ability: You develop leaders and help people grow in their roles.
-
P&L Fluency: You read financial statements, manage margins and labor, and make sound decisions with the data in front of you.
-
Clear Communication: You explain the "why" behind decisions and keep a large, multi-site team informed.
-
Entrepreneurial Mindset: You are hands-on, resourceful, and energized by building something.
-
Growth Mindset: You stay curious, seek feedback, and adapt quickly.
-
Strategic Partnership: You collaborate well with Teamshares and see the network as a resource.
