Job Description:
Cotality is seeking a Principal, IT Solutions - FinOps to lead the Technology Economics operating framework across Technology & Engineering. This individual contributor role connects technology ownership, consumption, investment, cost and value so leaders can make informed decisions about platforms, applications, products and shared services.
This role sits at the intersection of Finance, Accounting and Technology. The Principal will establish the financial models, governance practices and operating rhythms that improve cost transparency, planning, accountability and value realization. The scope extends beyond traditional cloud FinOps to include total cost of ownership across infrastructure, software, SaaS, labor, vendors, data, AI consumption and other relevant technology investments.
What You'll Do
- Design and continuously improve the Technology Economics operating framework, including decision rights, controls, governance forums, financial methodologies and measures.
- Establish ownership and financial data standards connecting cloud resources, platforms, applications, products, services, environments, cost centers and accountable leaders.
- Lead and coordinate technology inputs to annual budgets, recurring forecasts, long-range plans and scenario analyses, connecting financial outlooks to consumption, contractual commitments, modernization plans and demand.
- Partner across Finance, Accounting and Technology on invoice review, allocations, accruals, reconciliations, variance analysis, financial controls and management reporting.
- Develop repeatable total cost of ownership methodologies for platforms and applications that progressively incorporate infrastructure, cloud, software, SaaS, labor, vendor, data, AI and shared-service costs.
- Establish financial governance for cost ownership, allocation, showback or chargeback, budget thresholds, approvals and exceptions, partnering with technical teams to translate financial requirements into scalable solutions.
- Develop financial baselines, business cases and value-realization methods to evaluate optimization opportunities, technology investments, modernization efforts and sourcing decisions.
- Deliver concise, decision-oriented insights to technology and business leaders on cost, forecast, investment, risk, optimization and value.
- Improve financial fluency across technology teams through repeatable standards, templates, definitions, controls and operating rhythms.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Information Systems or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in FP&A, technology finance, finance business partnering, cloud economics or a comparable enterprise financial-management role.
- Strong experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, scenario modeling, business cases, financial governance and executive decision support.
- Experience with financial systems and accounting processes, including allocations, close, accruals, reconciliations and OpEx or CapEx considerations.
- Experience defining or operating financial ownership, allocation, management-reporting or total cost of ownership models.
- Working knowledge of technology cost structures, consumption-based services, cloud economics, software and vendor costs, shared services and technology investment decisions.
- Ability to translate between financial, accounting, engineering, product and executive perspectives and influence across organizations without direct authority.
- Strong communication, facilitation, relationship-management and structured problem-solving skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform or another major public cloud environment and an understanding of cloud economics and consumption models.
- Knowledge of FinOps principles, Technology Business Management, cloud billing, ERP, planning, CMDB, business intelligence or cost-management platforms.
- Experience developing platform, application, product, service or ecosystem total cost of ownership models.
- FinOps certification, advanced degree, or a finance or accounting credential such as CPA, CMA or CFA.
Annual Pay Range:
