Job Description
Your new role: Salesforce Development Lead
Are you a Salesforce leader who thrives on shipping fast, mentoring others, and pushing the platform forward with AI-assisted development? If you want to combine deep Salesforce expertise with hands-on experience in tools like Claude, Codex, and other AI coding assistants, and you're ready to help shape how a team builds on the platform, this role is for you.
As a Senior Salesforce Administrator / Developer at Global, you'll take ownership of our Salesforce ecosystem across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Account Engagement and Marketing Cloud Next, while also setting the technical direction and development practices the wider team follows. You'll combine hands-on configuration and Apex development with a modern, AI-powered delivery pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
- Platform Leadership & Architecture (50%): Own the technical roadmap and architecture across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Account Engagement and Marketing Cloud Next. Lead complex configuration, Apex development and integrations; set the bar for data integrity, performance and quality; and drive an AI-assisted development pipeline (source control via GitHub, pull request workflows, and AI coding assistants such as Claude and Codex) that lets the team ship faster without cutting corners.
- Team Leadership & Mentoring (30%): Act as the technical lead for the Salesforce function, mentoring a team of administrators and developers, reviewing pull requests, and raising the bar on how the team uses AI tooling to accelerate delivery.
- Stakeholder Collaboration & Optimisation (20%): Partner with senior stakeholders across product, sales, support and other tech teams to translate business priorities into a coherent Salesforce roadmap. Bring conviction to your recommendations, challenge assumptions, and ensure Salesforce integrates seamlessly with Global's wider application landscape.
What You’ll Love About This Role
- Think Big: Set the technical direction for a platform that touches every part of the business, with real scope to introduce AI-assisted engineering practices and prove out what "fast" looks like on Salesforce.
- Better Together: Lead and mentor a team while working closely with product, sales, support and other tech teams to solve problems collaboratively, backing your ideas with evidence and challenging the room when it leads to a better outcome.
- Own It: Build deep expertise across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud and Marketing Cloud, plus a track record of leading an AI-powered delivery pipeline, positioning you for further leadership roles in Salesforce or engineering more broadly.
- Keep It Simple: Champion streamlined, well-documented solutions and a lightweight, PR-based delivery process that lets the team move quickly without losing control of quality.
What Success Looks Like
In your first few months, you'll have:
- Mastered Global's Salesforce estate, including its architecture, integrations, and how AI-assisted development is already used (or could be introduced) across the team.
- Established yourself as the technical lead for Salesforce, reviewing code and pull requests, setting standards, and mentoring other administrators and developers.
- Built strong relationships with stakeholders across sales, support and marketing, aligning the roadmap to their priorities and confidently pushing back where you see a better path.
- Matured the development pipeline: consistent use of source control, pull request reviews, and AI coding tools (Claude, Codex and similar) to speed up configuration, automation and Apex development.
- Delivered training and support that visibly raises the team's ability to work independently and use AI tooling effectively.
What You’ll Need
- Proven Senior/Lead Experience: A strong track record as a Salesforce Administrator or Developer, with demonstrated technical leadership, ideally including line management or mentoring of other admins/developers. Deep focus on Sales Cloud (essential), Service Cloud (highly desirable) and Marketing Cloud (advantageous), in large, complex organisations.
- AI-Powered Development Pipeline: Hands-on experience building or running a modern, AI-assisted delivery pipeline: source control via GitHub, pull request workflows, and daily use of AI coding tools such as Claude, Codex (or comparable assistants) to speed up configuration, automation and development.
- Apex & Advanced Configuration: Strong Apex development skills alongside advanced declarative configuration (flows, automations, integrations). Comfortable owning technically complex solutions end to end.
- Leadership and Mentoring: Experience (or clear readiness) to lead a small team, whether through formal management or as a technical lead, reviewing others' work and raising the standard of delivery.
- Conviction and Energy: A confident, direct communicator who challenges constructively, isn't afraid to push back, and brings energy to cross-functional collaboration.
- Outcomes-Focused: A fail-fast mentality: biased towards action, comfortable shipping quickly, learning from what doesn't work, and iterating.
- Stakeholder Management: Ability to operate at a senior level with sales, support and marketing leaders, translating business priorities into a credible Salesforce roadmap.
- Problem-Solving Mindset: Detail-oriented and analytical, able to troubleshoot complex issues, support testing activity, and make sound architectural trade-offs.
