About the role

The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst leads complex Claims analytics and business intelligence initiatives, transforming business questions into scalable reporting solutions and actionable insights. This role helps execute the BI strategy and ensures the successful delivery of executive and operational dashboards. The analyst regularly develops Power BI reports and dashboards, supports semantic models and large-scale data initiatives, and serves as a senior liaison across Claims, Product, Actuarial, IT, and data teams. The role also presents business performance and analytical findings, facilitates stakeholder feedback and solution adoption, and provides training and mentors junior analysts. The role also applies predictive analytics and forecasting techniques, where appropriate, to anticipate claim volume, workload, operational performance, and emerging trends.
Business Intelligence Development and Automation (40%)
Regularly design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards of varied complexity from basic to complex, aligned with business requirements. Apply sound data modeling, SQL/DAX, visualization, accessibility, security, performance, and lifecycle management practices. Identify opportunities to streamline and automate manual recurring reporting processes, reducing manual effort and improving efficiency, scalability, and data consistency across reporting solutions. Incorporate forecast outputs and predictive indicators into reporting solutions when supported by business needs and reliable data.

Complex Project and Technology Partnership (25%)
Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and IT on complex initiatives, including semantic models, integrated data solutions, and large-scale reporting and dashboard implementations. Lead requirements discovery, metric definition, solution design, data validation, user acceptance testing, defect resolution, implementation, and documentation. Ensure business stakeholders and delivery teams have a clear understanding of reporting requirements, priorities, deliverables, dependencies, and timelines. Independently establish and achieve analytical and project objectives while demonstrating initiative and accountability. Proactively identify, document, and manage current and future reporting needs to support evolving business objectives. Assist in identifying and acquiring relevant data from internal and external sources (e.g., XACT, DXC, Kwikwork) and support the integration of those data sources into enterprise reporting solutions as part of system integrations, business acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives.

Complex Analytics and Insight Delivery (20%)
Lead complex ad hoc analyses using multiple data sources to identify and answer the underlying business question, providing insights beyond the initial ask. Evaluate results from multiple perspectives, uncover trends, drivers, patterns, anomalies, and risks, and translate findings into actionable insights. Prepare and deliver executive-ready reports, presentations, and recommendations for Claims, Product, Actuarial, and leadership audiences, enabling data-driven decision-making and helping drive operational and strategic improvements. Use statistical, predictive, and forecasting methods, where appropriate, to estimate future trends and evaluate potential operational impacts.

Stakeholder Partnership, Adoption, and Team Development (15%)
Conduct report and dashboard walkthroughs to gather feedback, drive adoption, and ensure reporting solutions meet business needs. Communicate project scope, priorities, timelines, risks, assumptions, and tradeoffs to stakeholders throughout the delivery lifecycle. Provide support for business applications and reporting platform access, including researching, troubleshooting, escalating, and resolving data and system issues to the appropriate technical teams. Mentor junior analysts through coaching, training, knowledge sharing, and work review to promote consistent delivery practices and professional growth. Lead training sessions on reports, dashboards, and self-service analytics tools, and support knowledge transfer activities when work is transitioned across teams. Assist in communicating system enhancements, reporting changes, and business process updates to ensure stakeholder awareness and adoption.
