DEME’s fleet works on some of the world’s most challenging marine projects, from offshore wind farms to major dredging works. Behind every vessel is a lot of machinery that has to perform.
As Category Buyer Marine Machinery, you own the relationships with the suppliers and manufacturers that keep our fleet running. You negotiate the deals and set up the contracts, and you make sure every agreement creates real value for DEME. You work closely with vessel teams, projects and engineering, so your decisions have a direct impact on how our fleet operates. Your responsibilities
- Lead negotiations with suppliers and manufacturers and turn them into strong contracts, framework agreements and SLAs.
- Shape the commercial terms that matter: pricing, performance, quality, warranties and risk.
- Follow up on your contracts and suppliers, and step in when performance needs to improve.
- Build the category strategy for marine machinery, equipment and related services.
- Develop a solid network of reliable, technically strong suppliers.
- Be the go-to partner for vessel management, project teams, engineering, QHSE and warehousing.
- Spot opportunities to standardise, optimise total cost of ownership and improve the way we buy.
- Contribute to category plans and KPI reviews together with the Category Manager Marine Machinery.
Your profile
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in negotiating and managing supplier contracts.
- Strong understanding of commercial and contractual terms, and a clear view on which points really make the difference.
- Experience in a maritime, offshore, energy or technical project environment, or a strong technical affinity through experience or education.
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent through experience.
- Clear and structured communicator who knows how to move a discussion forward.
- Autonomous, with a proactive attitude and at ease in a dynamic, international environment.
- Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus.
- Proficient in MS Office; experience with SAP or another ERP is an advantage.
Our offer
- A permanent training track which allows you to develop yourself personally and professionally.
- A stimulating, innovative workplace with numerous growth opportunities.
- An extensive mobility program for a healthy work-life balance.
- A people-oriented environment with an interactive health program and a focus on employee wellbeing.
