About the role
A Day in Your Life at Atotech/MKS
As a Senior Customer Quality Engineer within our Industrial Digital Solutions (IDS) organization, you will serve as the independent quality authority for software releases delivered to customers worldwide.
You will establish and operate the quality gate for customer project deliveries across Project Designs (PD) and Project Modification Requests (PMR), ensuring software quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction before deployments reach production environments.
Working closely with the Field Services & Customer Success (FSCS) organization, Software Support Stream, and Software Engineering teams, you will design automated validation pipelines, drive defect prevention initiatives, and transform customer-site learnings into scalable quality controls. You will also leverage AI-assisted testing approaches to increase automation coverage, accelerate validation, and continuously improve release quality.
In this role, you will report to the Head of Software Engineering.
Industrial Digital Solutions (IDS) develops the software backbone of MKS Atotech's plating and surface-finishing lines, including the fastCenter automation platform, the VCS line-control application, and the Digital Factory Suite (DFS). Our software solutions support customers across Asia, Europe, and North America and play a critical role in enabling smart manufacturing, traceability, monitoring, and operational excellence.
You Will Make an Impact By:
- Owning the Software Quality Gate: Defining and executing release validation activities for PD and PMR deliveries and making independent go/no-go release decisions based on objective quality criteria.
- Building Automated Validation Pipelines: Designing, implementing, and maintaining automated verification processes including configuration validation, standards compliance checks, master-project comparisons, and regression testing in emulated environments.
- Establishing Quality Standards: Defining release acceptance criteria, quality metrics, Definition of Done requirements, and test strategies in collaboration with FSCS teams.
- Driving Defect Management Excellence: Identifying, documenting, tracking, and validating defect resolution activities in partnership with software design engineers.
- Ensuring Complete Traceability: Maintaining test assets and execution results within TestRail while ensuring traceability to requirements, defects, and change requests managed through Jira.
- Transforming Customer Feedback into Prevention: Participating in root-cause investigations of customer-site issues and converting recurring failure patterns into automated tests, validation rules, and preventive quality controls.
- Measuring and Improving Release Quality: Developing quality reports and KPIs, including defect leakage analysis, release readiness assessments, and post-delivery quality trends.
- Leveraging AI-Driven Quality Practices: Utilizing AI-assisted tools for test generation, documentation analysis, configuration reviews, log analysis, and quality process optimization while ensuring appropriate human oversight.
- Supporting Continuous Improvement: Driving initiatives that improve testing efficiency, release confidence, and overall software quality across IDS products and customer projects.
- Sharing Quality Best Practices: Coaching engineers on testability, self-validation techniques, and quality-first development approaches while promoting quality standards across IDS teams.
