Location: Lakeport Post Acute, Lakeport, CA

Pay: $18 an hour

Position Summary
Lakeport Post Acute is seeking a compassionate and attentive Patient Sitter to provide continuous observation and support for residents requiring one-on-one supervision. The Patient Sitter plays a vital role in maintaining a safe environment by monitoring residents, assisting with activities, and promptly reporting concerns to nursing staff.
This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with seniors and are committed to ensuring resident safety, comfort, and well-being.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

- Provide continuous one-on-one supervision of assigned residents.

- Monitor resident activity and maintain a safe environment.

- Sit with residents and maintain an unobstructed view at all times.

- Communicate resident needs, behaviors, and concerns to nursing staff.

- Accompany residents to appointments, tests, procedures, therapy sessions, and designated activities.

- Assist with resident engagement through activities of choice such as conversation, games, reading, nail care, hair care, and other approved comfort activities.

- Assist nursing staff by notifying CNAs of resident care needs.

- Orient residents and families to the facility and room environment.

- Assist with documenting and accounting for resident belongings during admission, transfer, and discharge.

- Escort residents during approved smoking breaks when applicable.

- Maintain strict resident confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.

- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent required.

- Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare team members.

- Strong observation skills and attention to detail.

- Ability to remain alert and focused for extended periods.

- Compassionate, patient, and professional demeanor.

- Prior healthcare, caregiving, or customer service experience preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements

- Frequently lift, move, or assist with up to 30 pounds.

- Ability to sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, and observe residents for extended periods.

- Ability to assist during emergency situations as needed.
