Join our Survey and Geospatial team in Christchurch and help deliver the infrastructure and land developments that strengthen communities and create a sustainable future. At Aurecon, we are optimistic about the future – thinkers, solvers and collaborators working with our clients to make it happen.
What you’ll do
You’ll deliver high-quality surveys across infrastructure and land development projects throughout Canterbury and the wider South Island. Working alongside experienced surveyors, engineers and designers in a nationally connected geospatial team, you’ll build your technical capability across both fieldwork and data delivery.
- Undertake topographical, construction set-out and as-built surveys across urban, rural and infrastructure environments
- Complete field capture using modern GNSS, total station and other fit-for-purpose survey equipment and techniques, while upholding strong safety and quality standards on every site
- Turn survey data into accurate plans, datasets and spatial deliverables that de-risk projects from design through delivery
- Support local and national land development, transport, energy, industrial and rail projects from fieldwork through to final outputs
- Collaborate with surveyors, engineers, designers, contractors and multidisciplinary teams across Aotearoa New Zealand, engaging confidently and professionally with site stakeholders
- Contribute to improving data-processing, modelling and digital delivery workflows
What you’ll bring
- A relevant New Zealand surveying or geospatial qualification, or equivalent practical experience in the survey field
- Practical experience in surveying fieldwork and a sound understanding of survey principles, capture methods and data processing
- Confidence using modern survey equipment such as GNSS and total stations, with an interest in developing your capability across survey software and digital workflows
- A practical, safety-conscious approach and a love of working outdoors – fieldwork makes up around 60–80% of a typical week
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work
- Clear, friendly and professional written and verbal communication with contractors and project stakeholders
- Initiative and a willingness to learn, equally comfortable working independently or as part of a close-knit team
- A full New Zealand driver licence and the flexibility to travel to project sites across Canterbury and the South Island
The work you’ll be part of
You’ll support a strong pipeline of local and national land development, infrastructure, industrial and rail projects. Current and upcoming work includes Bellgrove Rangiora Land Development , Questral Retirement Village Land Developments, Petrochemical tank assessments, Fonterra seasonal projects, and KiwiRail bridge and culvert programmes.
