About the role

Mō te tūranga | About the role
Want a tax role with real variety, solid stretch, and plenty of room to grow? We’re looking for a Tax Manager on permanent full-time basis to join our team supporting our operations across New Zealand and Australia and help lead key workstreams across a complex, fast-moving business.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys getting into meaningful projects, taking ownership, and working across different parts of the business. You’ll be backed by a friendly, low-ego team and trusted to run with your work. Good Work here means real responsibility, real support, and the chance to keep building your career.
The role is ideally based in our Christchurch corporate office with the rest of the team, though we’re open to remote for the right person.

Ngā tino kawenga mahi | Key role responsibilities

- Lead tax workstreams and help ensure we meet our obligations across the business.

- Provide practical tax advice to stakeholders across Fulton Hogan.

- Take ownership of projects from start to finish, managing delivery with a high standard of care.

- Work closely with the wider tax team, Group Finance, and Regional Finance Managers.

- Help navigate a complex environment with multiple business units, regions, and tax types.

Kei te kimi mātou i tētahi e whai ana i ēnei pūkenga | We’re looking for someone with

- Corporate New Zealand or Australian income tax experience.

- At least 4+ years of relevant tax experience in professional services or an in-house environment.

- Chartered Accountant qualification or an equivalent law qualification.

- Strong capability in Excel and Microsoft Office, with confidence working across systems and processes. JDE experience will help.

- A collaborative, self-driven approach, with the ability to build strong relationships and manage complex work well.

He pai te mahi, he pai ngā painga | Good work, good benefits
At Fulton Hogan, we genuinely care about the wellbeing of our people and giving them the tools and opportunities they need to succeed and grow with us. You’ll have access to:

- Medical insurance and Life insurance after the eligibility period.

- KiwiSaver employer contributions after service milestones, up to 7%.

- Parental leave top up payment with additional return to work support.

- Ongoing training and development, with clear career growth and progression opportunities.

- Great discounts at a wide range of retailers.

Ko wai mātou | About us
At Fulton Hogan, Good Work is about more than what we deliver. It’s how we show up, how we treat each other, and how we keep moving forward together. We’re a flat, friendly team where ideas matter more than titles, and where people are trusted to do great work without the stiff corporate vibe.
We take the work seriously, not ourselves. That means a relaxed, human environment day to day, with serious standards when it counts. If you’re looking for project variety, a business with real scale, and a team that will back your growth, you’ll fit right in.
