OVERVIEW:
The Vendor Direct Operations Manager leads the strategy, performance, and continued evolution of DICK’S Sporting Goods’ Vendor Direct fulfillment channel. The role is responsible for delivering a scalable, profitable, and athlete-centered fulfillment experience across a diverse network of vendor partners and eCommerce business.
The Manager owns the end-to-end operational performance of Vendor Direct and Custom Order fulfillment, including order lifecycle performance, vendor execution, service levels, inventory availability, speed, cost, exception management, and athlete experience. The role identifies systemic opportunities and develops strategies, capabilities, and operating processes that improve both immediate business performance and the long-term scalability of the channel.
This leader works across eCommerce, Merchandising, Supply Chain, Technology, Finance, Customer Service, and external vendor partners to establish priorities, solve complex fulfillment challenges, and translate business needs into sustainable operational capabilities. The Manager uses performance data, financial insights, and athlete experience signals to identify opportunities, develop recommendations, influence decisions, and lead initiatives from strategy through implementation.
The role is also responsible for establishing strong operating standards and accountability across the vendor network, while identifying opportunities to improve vendor capabilities and the overall effectiveness of the Vendor Direct supply chain.
The Manager leads and develops the Vendor Direct Operations team, establishing clear priorities, building capability, and creating an environment of ownership, continuous improvement, and high performance.
Additional duties include:
- Develop and execute plans to improve scalability, automation, operational efficiency, and fulfillment capabilities.
- Establish and manage operational and vendor performance standards, identifying opportunities and driving continuous improvement.
- Use financial, operational, and athlete experience data to identify opportunities, prioritize initiatives, and measure results.
- Improve the end-to-end order experience, including inventory availability, order fulfillment, delivery, cancellations, exceptions, and post-purchase support.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve speed, reliability, cost, and scalability across Vendor Direct and Custom/Special Order fulfillment.
- Represent Vendor Direct and Custom/Special Order needs within broader Omni Fulfillment initiatives.
- Lead and develop the team, creating clear accountability and strong operational, analytical, and strategic capabilities.
- Drive improvements in the Custom Order process from end to end product management at a component level, data flow between DSG and vendor systems, and managing athlete expectations for both store teammates and service teammates
