Job Description Summary:
As an Engineering Manager for our Cloud Platform team at Modernizing Medicine, you will lead a team of talented engineers dedicated to building and scaling our developer enablement platform. You will drive the strategy and execution behind tooling, infrastructure, and self-service capabilities that make it fast, easy, and secure for software delivery teams across the organization to build, deploy, and operate their applications. Your leadership will empower engineering teams to deliver high-quality, reliable, and scalable products to our clinical and operational customers with minimal friction.
What You’ll Do
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of high-performing platform engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Own the product vision and roadmap for the Developer Enablement Platform, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of application development teams.
- Validate and drive self-service platform solutions, standard CI/CD pipelines, and automated infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Champion cloud-native standards and golden paths for containerized (Kubernetes/EKS) and serverless deployment environments.
- Partner closely with Product Development and InfoSec leadership to reduce developer friction and accelerate time-to-market.
- Establish enterprise-wide observability, monitoring, and reliability standards (DataDog, OpenTelemetry) to guarantee platform resilience.
- Manage cloud resource governance, security compliance, performance tuning, and cost optimization across multi-account cloud environments.
- Define and track key metrics (DORA metrics, developer satisfaction, platform adoption) to evaluate and communicate platform impact.
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in engineering management or technical leadership, managing software or platform engineering teams.
- 8+ years of experience in Software Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Cloud Architecture.
- Proven track record of building and delivering internal developer platforms or developer enablement tools.
- Deep technical expertise in at least one of the following areas:
- Cloud ecosystems (AWS preferred), container orchestration (Kubernetes/EKS), and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
- Building applications atop AWS, EKS, and Terraform-based internal developer platforms.
- Strong background in CI/CD automation, GitOps principles, and modern deployment methodologies.
- Solid understanding of enterprise observability, operational excellence, and SRE best practices.
- Exceptional leadership, coaching, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with a focus on product-minded engineering.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
This role is hybrid. On-call participation may be required to support production systems.
If you're passionate about leading teams, driving developer productivity, and building world-class platform capabilities, we'd love to hear from you.
