Job Description Summary:
About the Role
As a Cloud Engineering Manager for DevOps at Modernizing Medicine, you will lead an engineering team responsible for fielding, refining, and delivering AWS infrastructure requests across all product lines. You will serve as a vital bridge between application development teams and core cloud operations, maintaining strong stakeholder relationships, reconciling incoming demand with our Internal Developer Platform (IDP) roadmap, and ensuring we capitalize on opportunities to build reusable platform capabilities rather than bespoke infrastructure solutions.
What You’ll Do
- Field incoming AWS infrastructure requests from software development teams supporting new product features and capabilities across all ModMed product lines.
- Flesh out and refine infrastructure requests to guarantee technical completeness, clarity, and strict alignment with organizational architectural standards.
- Build and nurture trusted relationships with engineering and product stakeholders across all product lines.
- Reconcile incoming feature requests with the Internal Developer Platform roadmap, seizing opportunities to deliver scalable platform features rather than one-off, bespoke infrastructure.
- Schedule, prioritize, and manage team workflows to ensure consistent, predictable delivery on engineering commitments.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of high-performing DevOps engineers, fostering a culture of operational excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with InfoSec and Cloud Platform leadership to embed security guardrails, cost governance, and automated CI/CD pipelines into daily workflows.
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in engineering management or technical leadership, managing software or platform engineering teams.
- 8+ years of experience in Software Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Cloud Architecture.
- Proven track record of building and delivering internal developer platforms or developer enablement tools.
- Deep technical expertise in at least one of the following areas:
- Cloud ecosystems (AWS preferred), container orchestration (Kubernetes/EKS), and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
- Building applications atop AWS, EKS, and Terraform-based internal developer platforms
- Strong background in CI/CD automation, GitOps principles, and modern deployment methodologies.
- Solid understanding of enterprise observability, operational excellence, and SRE best practices.
- Exceptional leadership, coaching, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with a focus on product-minded engineering.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
This role is hybrid. On-call participation may be required to support production systems.
If you're passionate about leading teams, driving developer productivity, and building world-class platform capabilities, we'd love to hear from you.
