As a Senior Manager Trade Compliance, you will provide strategic leadership and oversee global and domestic trade compliance activities across a complex, highly regulated business environment. You will lead a specialized team responsible for ensuring adherence to international trade laws, export controls, sanctions, and regulatory requirements. Working closely with legal, compliance, and business leaders, you will develop and implement strategies that protect the organization while supporting its commercial and operational objectives. This role also offers the opportunity to influence enterprise-wide policies, strengthen risk management practices, and drive operational improvements. You will contribute to critical projects across the defense, technology, intelligence, and infrastructure sectors while fostering a culture of integrity, innovation, and accountability.

Accountabilities:

- Lead and supervise the Trade Compliance team, overseeing restricted party screenings, export authorizations, licensing activities, travel assessments, and jurisdiction and classification determinations.

- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive global trade compliance strategies aligned with organizational objectives and applicable regulatory requirements.

- Ensure compliance with domestic and international trade laws and regulations, including ITAR, EAR, FCPA, economic sanctions, and applicable free trade agreements.

- Manage trade compliance activities throughout the entire product lifecycle, including concept development, product design, access management, labeling, marketing, sales, and export operations.

- Provide strategic direction, mentorship, and professional development to team members while promoting a culture centered on safety, quality, integrity, innovation, and sustainability.

- Collaborate with business units and cross-functional stakeholders to develop effective compliance solutions, address regulatory challenges, and mitigate potential risks.

- Conduct internal audits, compliance reviews, and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and implement appropriate corrective actions.

- Partner with legal counsel and compliance teams to develop and update training programs, internal policies, procedures, and operational practices.

- Maintain accurate trade compliance documentation, records, and reporting systems, providing regular updates and insights to senior leadership and business partners.

- Identify opportunities to optimize trade operations, streamline processes, reduce costs, and improve overall organizational efficiency.

- Lead investigations into suspected trade compliance violations, coordinating appropriate reviews and corrective measures.

- Monitor changes in trade regulations, pending legislation, government requirements, and industry developments to ensure continued compliance.

- Support strategic initiatives involving US government contracting regulations, defense-related programs, and international trade requirements.

- Provide expert guidance to internal stakeholders on complex trade compliance matters and influence business decisions through sound regulatory judgment.

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in International Business, Law, or a related discipline.

- At least 12 years of professional experience in trade compliance, including significant managerial or leadership responsibilities.

- Previous experience in the defense, aerospace, technology, or other highly regulated industries is strongly preferred.

- Expert knowledge of US import and export control laws and regulations, particularly ITAR, EAR, sanctions, and international trade requirements.

- Extensive experience with jurisdiction and classification determinations, particularly involving military technologies, defense products, and cybersecurity-related matters.

- Demonstrated experience managing trade compliance teams and developing enterprise-wide or global compliance programs.

- Experience interacting with government agencies on trade compliance, export control, and regulatory matters.

- Strong understanding of US Department of Defense (DoD) contracting regulations and defense procurement frameworks, including Foreign Military Sales (FMS), Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and Defense Export Control regulations (DEAR/DEARS, where applicable).

- Proven ability to develop and implement strategic compliance initiatives while balancing regulatory obligations with business priorities.

- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence decisions and advocate for effective compliance practices.

- Strong project management, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

- Demonstrated ability to manage complex initiatives, lead organizational change, and collaborate effectively across multiple business functions.

- A Master's degree in International Business, Law, or a related field is considered an advantage.

- Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.
