About the role

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal QA Engineer / QA Manager based in India.

The Principal QA Engineer / QA Manager will define and drive quality engineering practices across critical product areas, with a strong focus on test automation and performance engineering. You will take ownership of the testing lifecycle, ensuring that complex features and changes meet demanding reliability and release standards. The role involves designing automation frameworks, validating high-volume transactional systems, and identifying performance bottlenecks before they affect users. You will work closely with Engineering, Product, and DevOps teams to embed quality throughout the development and deployment process. You will also leverage AI-powered tools to improve test creation, analysis, and defect investigation. Alongside hands-on technical ownership, you will mentor QA engineers, influence testing standards, and provide data-driven recommendations on release readiness.

Accountabilities:

-
Own the end-to-end testing lifecycle for new features and software changes, including test scoping, risk assessment, test coverage, and release readiness.

-
Design, develop, and maintain automated tests across API, user interface (UI), integration, and regression testing, while improving test reliability and reducing flaky tests.

-
Plan and execute load, stress, and performance tests for high-risk transactional workflows, including order processing, matching and settlement, account balances, deposits, and withdrawals.

-
Analyze performance test results, identify bottlenecks, and communicate actionable findings and recommendations to engineering teams.

-
Apply AI-powered tools to accelerate test generation, result analysis, and defect triage, and share effective practices with the wider team.

-
Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and establish reliable quality gates to support consistent release standards.

-
Lead testing activities for complex features and high-severity changes, providing evidence-based recommendations on release approval.

-
Own the test automation architecture, including frameworks, test data, and test environments, ensuring alignment with quality standards established by the Director.

-
Mentor and support QA engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and collaborative pairing sessions.

-
Track and report quality metrics, including defect escape rates, critical-path test coverage, and release stability.

-
Communicate quality concerns and release risks to the Director and relevant stakeholders early, using clear data and analysis to support decisions.

Requirements:

-
7+ years of experience in software Quality Assurance or test engineering, with a strong emphasis on test automation.

-
Fluency in Mandarin is mandatory.

-
Hands-on automation development experience using Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Java.

-
Experience designing, developing, or taking substantial ownership of a test automation framework.

-
Practical experience with performance and load testing tools such as k6, JMeter, Locust, or Gatling.

-
Strong experience testing APIs, backend services, and distributed systems.

-
Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.

-
Familiarity with Agile software development environments and cross-functional collaboration.

-
Ability to quickly understand complex transactional or financial business logic and translate it into effective testing strategies.

-
Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with engineers, Product teams, and technical stakeholders.

-
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Additional qualifications considered an advantage:

-
Experience in cryptocurrency, trading, exchange platforms, payments, or other financial technology systems.

-
Familiarity with wallet and custody solutions or blockchain integrations.

-
Practical experience using AI or large language model (LLM) tools to improve software testing processes.

Benefits:

-
Full-time, remote position.

-
Opportunity to take technical ownership of quality engineering and automation across critical product areas.

-
Exposure to high-volume transactional systems, trading workflows, and financial technology.

-
Opportunity to apply AI tools and modern testing approaches to improve engineering quality and efficiency.

-
Collaboration with Engineering, Product, and DevOps teams in a cross-functional environment.

-
Opportunity to mentor QA professionals and contribute to broader testing standards and practices.

-
